MARKING AND SETTING OUT OF LATERALS
After the approval of landscape shop drawings, drawings for the proposed layout of the laterals will be submitted for approval by the consultant. Upon receiving the approval the location of the laterals will be set out on site for excavation.
LAYING OF LATERALS
After setting out the approved layout, excavation is carried out manually up to the specified depth. After the completion of excavation, laterals are laid and joined using solvent cement. These laterals are connected to corresponding solenoid valves.

SWEET SOIL FILLING
The sweet soil for this project will be sourced from approved sources and a sample will be submitted for testing and approval. Prior to spreading of sweet sand, it will be confirmed that the site is levelled as per the project requirement by the main contractor. Once the sand is delivered to the site, it will be levelled using machinery so that rough levels are attained all over the landscape area. Specified soil additives will be mixed with sweet sand at the rates specified. The soil will be mixed by an approved method to create a homogeneous mixture. Final levelling is carried out manually.
FLUSHING IRRIGATION MAIN LINES AND LATERALS
Before connecting any pipework to valve take off, each section will be flushed out through the washout points until the water is running clear. After installing laterals and manifolds to drip areas, but before drilling manifold for grommet takeoffs, each planting section will be flushed to the manifold flushing point. Drip lines will be flushed before installing the figure eight end closures and emitters. The riser pipes are flushed before installing the sprayers and again flushed to check the correctness of flow. Afterwards, the sprayer filters are cleaned and replaced.
INSTALLATION OF IRRIGATION HEADS AND DRIPPERS
After the completion of flushing, emitters, bubblers, sprinklers and sprayers are installed as per the approved shop drawings corresponding to the area of landscaping. The number of each of the above will be according to the water requirement of the landscaped area designed to be covered by the irrigation system.
INSTALLATION OF PUMPS
Pumps installation will be carried out after completion of pump room and foundation for the pumps by the main contractor. Also, the required connection point to the pump suction from the irrigation tank will be provided by the main contractor. Pumps will be installed as per the manufacturer’s written instruction. Power supply for the pumps up to the main panel in the pump room will be provided by the main contractor. Supply from the main panel to the pumps will be provided using cables as specified.
